Australia Day or Robert Burns night?

Australia day actually landed on the same weekend as Robert Burns night in Scotland, where we dress in tartan, eat haggis and listen to bagpipes. Robert Burns night is probably bigger than the St.Andrews day. Robert Burns was a very famous Scottish poet and is a huge part of Scottish culture. Throughout school, we learnt his poems and most famously, Auld Lang Syne.

Australia is on fire

Australia has been burning since October, well from what I know anyway. When Iain and I first embarked on our road trip down the east coast of Australia, we were on fire watch, making sure we didn’t end up in an area that was burning. As we drove down we passed many forests that had been incinerated and left lonely trees black with soot. It was quite a scary sight.

How does Christmas make you feel?

Christmas is fast approaching and it is beginning to sink in that I am going to be having my first ever Christmas without my family and with Iain (I don't think I've ever seen him on Christmas day itself!).
